Corn Starch: export from Canada to ASEAN
Corn starch is a wet-milled ingredient bought on functional behaviour: gelatinisation temperature, viscosity profile, clarity, and texture in the finished system. Composition tells you little; the performance data is the specification.
Native starch and modified starches are different products. Modification alters freeze-thaw stability, acid tolerance and shear resistance, and each modification has to be declared and must be permitted in the destination. That permission differs by market and is worth confirming before a formulation is locked, because a modified starch standard in Canada may not be approved where you are shipping.
Food-grade and industrial-grade are separate trades with separate specifications; state which you need.
Canadian wet milling sits close to the Ontario and Quebec corn crop. As with all functional ingredients, qualify in your own matrix rather than on a datasheet: starch behaviour is highly system-dependent.
Starch classifies well away from the corn it came from, and modified starches sometimes sit in a different line again from native. Confirm the position for the specific modification rather than for starch generally.

MFN duty is the destination's applied general rate for this tariff line. Preferential is the rate under an agreement in force between Canada and that market. Both are customs duty only: destination excise, value-added tax and local levies are additional and are not shown here.
