Wheat Flour: export from Canada to ASEAN
Flour is a manufactured product, not a form of wheat, and the distinction matters commercially and regulatorily: it carries its own classification, its own shelf-life profile and frequently its own registration route.
The specification is extraction rate, protein, ash, moisture, and the functional data a baker actually uses: water absorption, dough development and stability. Ash is the parameter that most reliably indicates extraction and is worth contracting on.
Buyers choose imported flour over imported wheat when they lack milling capacity or want a consistent finished specification without operating a mill. The trade-off is freight on a lower-value-density product and a shorter shelf life, particularly in warm humid storage where flour picks up moisture and insects.
Confirm storage conditions at the destination before committing. Flour that performs at load can arrive out of specification purely from warehouse humidity.
Flour is classified separately from wheat, which is the point most often missed when a buyer switches from importing grain to importing flour and assumes the duty position carries across. It frequently does not. Confirm it before you change the shipping form.
