Pork Loins: export from Canada to ASEAN

Pork loin is bought on a weight band and a trim standard, and the two decisions ahead of that are bone-in or boneless, and chilled or frozen. Each changes the price, the yield and the handling, and buyers who leave them implicit end up negotiating after arrival.

Canadian loins go into foodservice portioning, retail case-ready programmes and further processing, and each wants something different: foodservice wants a consistent weight band for portion control, retail wants appearance and colour stability, processors want yield.

Specify the trim explicitly. "Trimmed" is not a specification: fat cover depth, whether the chine is removed, and whether the tenderloin is retained all sit inside that word and all move the price.

As with all Canadian meat on this route, the establishment must be eligible for the destination market before anything else is worth discussing. That is a question for the destination authority and the CFIA certificate that supports it, and it is binary.
