Maple Sugar: export from Canada to ASEAN
Maple sugar is fully dehydrated maple syrup, sold as granulated sugar or in blocks, and it carries the maple flavour into applications where adding liquid is impossible: dry seasoning blends, bakery mixes, confectionery and beverage powders.
The specification points are particle size, moisture and purity, meaning whether the product is pure maple or blended with cane sugar. Blended products are common and legitimate but must be declared, and the distinction matters to a buyer paying a maple premium.
Hygroscopicity is the handling issue that catches buyers importing into humid markets. Maple sugar picks up moisture readily and cakes, so the packaging barrier has to be specified against your actual warehouse rather than a temperate default.
Quebec produces the overwhelming majority of world supply, from a short spring harvest that makes annual volume genuinely weather-dependent.
Maple sugar classifies apart from maple syrup, and blended products containing cane sugar may classify differently again from pure maple. State the composition precisely, because the blend ratio can move the line.
