Sparkling Water: export from Canada to ASEAN

Sparkling water carries the same freight problem as still water with an added complication: carbonation requires pressure-rated packaging, which is heavier again, and glass carries a real breakage risk in a long sea route.

The positioning has to be genuinely premium or channel-specific (hospitality, fine dining, gifting) for the arithmetic to work. Mainstream retail against local carbonated brands is not a realistic target from Canada.

The specification points are carbonation level, source provenance, mineral analysis and packaging format. Naturally carbonated and carbonated-at-source products support a stronger claim than force-carbonated, where that claim is permitted.

Confirm the destination's rules on source and mineral claims before designing the label. Also confirm the destination's handling of pressurised glass in the intended distribution channel, since some retailers restrict it.

Carbonated water classifies apart from still, and added minerals or flavours can move it again. Confirm the position for the exact product, alongside any destination restrictions on pressurised glass in your intended channel.

Both are customs duty only: destination excise, value-added tax and local levies are additional and are not shown here.
