Craft Beer: export from Canada to ASEAN
Craft beer faces two hard constraints on this route. The first is licensing: alcoholic beverages carry destination import controls and in several markets a state or monopoly distribution structure that determines who you may sell to at all. Confirm the licensing route before planning anything commercial.
The second is freshness. Hop-forward styles degrade noticeably over a long sea route and warm storage, and an IPA that is excellent in Canada can arrive tired. That practical limit favours higher-alcohol and more stable styles (stouts, sours, barrel-aged products) over the hoppy styles that define craft brewing at home.
Specify packaging format, alcohol content, and whether the beer is pasteurised or requires cold-chain handling.
Excise treatment and alcohol labelling requirements differ by destination and are worth settling early, since they can change the pack and the price materially.
Beer classifies under its own heading and typically attracts excise in addition to customs duty, which is frequently the larger number. Ask for the full landed position including excise rather than the tariff rate alone.

MFN duty is the destination's applied general rate for this tariff line. Preferential is the rate under an agreement in force between Canada and that market. Both are customs duty only: destination excise, value-added tax and local levies are additional and are not shown here.
