Canola Protein: export from Canada to ASEAN

Canola protein is a newer plant protein positioned on two attributes: a well-balanced amino acid profile and, for certain fractions, high solubility across a wider pH range than most plant proteins manage.

That solubility is the commercial opening. Formulators working on clear or acidic beverages, where soy and pea proteins struggle, are the natural buyers, and it is worth stating your pH target at enquiry because it determines which fraction you need.

The specification points are protein on a dry basis, solubility at the target pH, colour, and flavour. Colour matters more than for pea protein since some canola fractions carry a green or brown tint that shows in a pale finished product.

Canada's canola crush base supplies the raw material, which gives the ingredient a documented domestic supply chain. Confirm the destination's regulatory position, since newer proteins are not universally approved as food ingredients.

Newer plant proteins sometimes fall into residual lines rather than having their own, and novel food approval at the destination is a separate question from classification. Confirm both, since approval is the binding one.
