Plant Proteins
Canada's plant protein position is built on its pulse and oilseed crops, with fractionation capacity built domestically rather than bolted on. For a formulator that means traceability back through the same supply chain, which increasingly decides clean-label and plant-based positioning.
Pea protein is the established product, available as concentrate and isolate at different protein levels. Canola protein is newer and positioned on amino acid profile and solubility.
The guidance is the same across all of them: qualify against your own application rather than a datasheet. Extraction route determines functional behaviour, so two isolates with identical protein percentages can perform completely differently in a beverage, an extrusion or a gel. Flavour is the parameter most often omitted and most often responsible for rejection.
