Nutrition & Granola Bars
Bars are a claims-driven category, and claims are where exports get held. Protein content, fibre, sugar reduction and functional-ingredient claims permitted in Canada frequently are not permitted in the destination, and the artwork carries them. Review claims against destination rules before the pack is designed rather than after.
Texture is the technical risk. Bars soften and become sticky in humid warm storage, and water activity plus packaging barrier are what govern it. Validate under destination conditions.
Canadian producers have a genuine ingredient story here (oats, pulses, berries and pea protein all come from the domestic crop) which supports premium positioning when the provenance is documented rather than asserted. Settle the claim set early, since a bar sold on protein content in one market and on fibre in another needs two label designs and one formulation.
