Shelf-stable products remove the cold-chain problem, which is why they are often the right first export for a producer testing a market. What replaces it is process validation: the retort schedule, the seam integrity and the substantiated shelf life are the technical spine of the product and destination authorities may ask about all three.

Canned fish and canned pulses are the two Canadian volume categories. Both are bought on fill weight, drained weight, packing medium and can format, and the format decision should follow destination retail norms rather than Canadian ones.

Labelling is the usual gating item. Get artwork reviewed against destination particulars before committing to a print run, since can labels are typically ordered in large volumes.
