Soybean Meal: export from Canada to ASEAN

Soybean meal is the benchmark protein input in compound feed and aquaculture, and it is bought on protein content, fibre, moisture and consistency. What separates lots is not usually the headline protein number but batch-to-batch consistency, which is what a formulator actually depends on.

The processing variable to ask about is heat treatment. Under-processing leaves anti-nutritional factors active; over-processing damages lysine availability. Urease activity and protein dispersibility index are the practical tests, and both are worth contracting on rather than assuming.

High-protein and standard meal are separate products reflecting whether the hulls were removed. State which you need, since the price difference tracks a real compositional difference.

Canadian meal comes off the Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba crush base. Supply is tied to crush margin rather than to harvest alone, so availability can tighten when crushing slows.

Meal classifies separately from both the bean and the oil, and feed ingredients frequently attract their own import licensing. Send us the destination and we will confirm the line, the duty and any licensing requirement together.
