Highbush Blueberries: export from Canada to ASEAN
Cultivated highbush blueberries are the volume blueberry product: larger, milder and more uniform than wild, with steadier supply because they are grown on planted acreage rather than harvested from managed wild stands.
That uniformity is the reason manufacturers running continuous programmes generally specify highbush. What it does not carry is the wild provenance story or the higher anthocyanin content, so buyers paying a premium expecting wild attributes will be disappointed: the two should be sold as what they are.
The specification points are size grade, brix, defect and foreign-material tolerance, and whether the fruit is whole or includes broken product.
British Columbia is the principal producing region. Almost all export volume is IQF, and cold-chain integrity through the last mile is the operational risk rather than the fruit itself.
Frozen blueberries classify apart from fresh and dried, with added-sugar status often distinguishing sub-lines. Wild and cultivated usually share a line, but that is worth confirming for your destination rather than assuming.
